Riding from Düsseldorf to the North Atlantic Ocean Canberra Running Coach, July 5, 2023November 23, 2023 Escaping winter training to take on a whole new challenge was a life awakening experience. Recently FAST’s Steve and Marijke pushed themselves on a 600km bike ride from Düsseldorf in Germany to Brielle in the Netherlands. The European Summer escape was the culmination of half a year’s preparation and training. The trip involved Bike Packing the whole distance and carrying only the essentials. The goal wasn’t to break speed or distance records, but to relax and unwind away from the world. The trip along the world famous River Rhine offered wonderful nature, sweeping farms, boats, small idyllic villages, great food, lots of animals, windmills and plenty of great stories. The track followed the Rhine and included country roads, dedicated bike lanes. dirt tracks, forest paths, underwater bike paths, the world’s busiest port harbour, and plenty more. Of course a little FAST & Active training was fitted into everyday and there were a number of runs through the beautiful countryside including the Beach on the North Atlantic Ocean.
