FAST50: No pain, no gain Canberra Sprint Coach, February 21, 2024February 21, 2024 A series of niggling soreness from the lower back right through the hamstring to the knee has seen Steve back and forth from Soft Tissue therapy and Physiotheraphy. The number of days since his last running session is 90 days and counting. The meniscal sprain attributing to the medial, inside knee pain, has seen Steve on the slow to go FAST. Unable to run or walk without pain, Steve has been engaging on Active Recovery training. Sessions for Steve have included Pool Sprinting, Compression Boots, Stretching and Mobility, Strength Training, Core Sessions, and cardio sessions on the bike and the pool. While taking the load off the legs has improved the lower back and the mobility work have strengthen the hamstrings and hip flexors, a return to running is looking more promising. With a daily dose of the above training, Steve has not lost his fitness and gained more strength than he had in his entire 40s. The last time Steve seriously trained for sprinting was his late 30s, so the feeling of actually getting back on the track to run, for the first session, will be an emotional one.
