Push it Canberra Running Coach, May 7, 2024August 29, 2024 The skies opened over the weekend and the FAST Running squad hit Australia’s fastest track for its Sunday Sprint session in the Nation’s Capital. The AIS is the ideal all weather training venue and FAST’s home track. Like on the weekend, sessions are adapted to suit training conditions and the sled pushes offer the opportunity for explosiveness, and improving sprinters’ stride length and frequency by enhancing their leg drive and overall running mechanics. Pushing a power sled requires the engagement of various muscle groups, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, calves, and core muscles. This resistance training helps to strengthen these muscles, which are essential for sprinting power and speed. For more details on how training variability can improve your speed, speak with Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt.
